Step back in time and experience the charm of Mount View Homestead, a fully renovated 128-year-old, four-bedroom home set in the rolling hills of the Darling Downs. With traditional wrap-around verandas that offer stunning views of the sprawling countryside and grazing cattle, it’s the perfect place to watch the sunrise with your morning coffee. 

Purchased in 1896 by the Bebbington family and still owned and operated by Ian and Katrina Bebbington today, Mount View Homestead offers guests the chance to stay on-site in this beautiful country accommodation. 

Our aim is to provide a peaceful and relaxing stay, giving you a real taste of rustic, authentic farm life.

The Homestead

Our charming homestead is the ideal place for families and groups seeking a cosy retreat.

The Homestead is situated in its own private yard with a magnificent 100-year-old Moreton Bay fig tree shading the veranda, which overlooks some spectacular views. Accommodating up to 8 guests, the homestead features 2 queen-sized beds, a double bed, and 2 single beds. The two larger queen rooms have direct access to the veranda, perfect for enjoying an early morning coffee while watching the sunrise without disturbing other guests.

A private firepit area with a 100-year-old bottle tree provides a cosy spot to unwind. The well-equipped kitchen includes a four-plate electric hob with an oven, medium fridge, microwave, toaster, and kettle, with tea, coffee, and some pantry basics provided. The lounge room, which also features a dining area, is equipped with a flat-screen TV, a large reverse cycle air conditioner, and a wood-burning fireplace (with wood supplied, and additional wood available for purchase on-site).

The bathroom boasts a modern shower and the original claw foot bathtub, ensuring a blend of old-world charm and modern comfort. All linen, towels, and toiletries are supplied, and guests can enjoy free WiFi and access to a guest laundry for convenience.

The Ironbark Barn

Take a short walk to Ironbark Barn, located just 50 metres from the Homestead. This fully decked-out barn includes a BBQ, pool table, bar area, and a large fridge to keep all your drinks cool. 

The outside fire pit is perfect for enjoying a chat around the fire with friends and family. Shared by house guests and campers alike, Ironbark Barn is a favourite hangout, especially on a rainy day.

Camping at Mountview

We offer camping and caravan sites where you can fully embrace the rustic farm life. 

This idyllic location features large, flat sites equipped with firepits for you to enjoy. Clean flushing toilets and a hot shower are provided for your convenience, ensuring a comfortable stay amidst the rustic charm of our countryside.

Common questions about the property

Are single night stays available?
Yes. One night stays are available upon request. A 25% surcharge will be applied to your total booking.
Will we be sharing the homestead with other guests?
No. Once you have made a booking the homestead is exclusively yours and not shared with other guests.
Do we need to bring linen?
No. All linen, towels and bedding is supplied including blankets for those colder nights.
Are there cooking utensils and cookware supplied?
Yes. The kitchen has basic pots, pans and utensils for you to use during your stay. The kitchen is also equipped with a microwave, electric oven and cook top.
Do we need to bring wood for the fireplace and firepit?
No. A small amount of wood and kindling is supplied for the duration of your stay however if you require extra, bags of wood and kindling are available on site for you to purchase.
Can I feed the animals?
You are welcome to help feed the chickens and any cattle close by the homestead if you have the opportunity. As we are a working farm there are no scheduled feeding times or activities.
Does the Homestead have Air conditioning?
Yes. There is a large reverse cycle air conditioning unit located in the lounge/living room and there is also a wood fire in the lounge room.
Can we have excusive use of the property without any campers?
Yes. The Homestead & the campgrounds can be booked exclusively. (Extra charges will apply.)
Are pets allowed on the property?
No. Pets are not permitted at Mountview.
